Stephen's Harvest

Stephen's hard work and dedication at the Spire allotment has began to harvest reward...and potatoes!

Despite the somewhat damp summer Stephen has been regularly attending the Spire allotment on Blackpool Road with support from committed support worker Mike Riley. However Stephen's gardening skills don't end at potatoes, with some onions next on the list of vegetables to be dug up. Stephen has also converted his yard at home in to a garden where he's been growing his own flowers, and a selection of herbs to use in cooking. What exactly Stephen plans to do with all his potatoes is not yet known.

The Spire allotment has had a busy year so far with BTCV volunteers helping to renovate the perimeter fence and raised bedding, and now its first crop. Plans are also a foot to start a weekly gardening group at the allotment in partnership with the National Trust.
