Social Evening To Continue!
Tuesday 22nd March 2011
We are delighted to announce that the Learning Disability Social Evening at The Kolor Bar, Old Bull will continue once funding runs out. However in order to make the evening self-sufficient we have raised the entry fee to £2, as from 30th March 2011. We will also be holding a weekly raffle with tickets on sale at the entrance to the Kolor Bar.
Tomorrow will be the ninth social evening held at The Kolor Bar and founders Stephen Brown (Spire Development Worker) and Andrew Whitaker (LCC Learning Disability Leisure Coordinator) felt it would be a shame if the evening was to stop due to a lack of funds. The evenings have been a huge success with acts providing entertainment to crowds of 50+ every week.
Stephen and Andrew would also like to thank Abbi, Maureen, Nathan and Marie for their help every Wednesday, as well as the landlady and bar staff at The Old Bull for all their help.
Spire were awarded £500 by Help Direct's Small Sparks scheme to setup and run the social evening, providing adults with learning disabilities with a safe and friendly environment to socialise and have fun with new and existing friends.
The Kolor Bar is at The Old Bull, just 300 metres from the bus station and on the same road as the train station. There is a free car park at the rear (after 6pm) and a taxi rank at the front. The pub also has disabled toilet facilities and is wheelchair accessible.
