Tea & Dance every Wednesday, 1pm to 3pm - 18/11/11
Sharpen your dance moves in preparation for the Kolor Bar every Wednesday afternoon at Tanterton Community Centre (PR2 7BX) 1pm to 3pm. Suitable for all abilities, everybody is welcome. £2 per session, free for carers. Free refreshment.

Social Evening Fright Night - 14/10/11
We will be hosting a special Halloween party in place of our weekly social evening on Wednesday 26th October. There will be a prize for the best fancy dress costume plus a raffle, karaoke and live entertainment provided by Dave Wayne. Click here to view or download the poster.

Stephen's Harvest - 31/08/11
Stephen's hard work and dedication at the Spire allotment has began to harvest reward...and potatoes! Despite the somewhat damp summer Stephen has been regularly attending the Spire allotment on Blackpool Road with support from committed support worker Mike Riley. Click here to read more.

Summer Leisure Planner Available - 15/07/11
The new Preston Leisure Activity Planner for July to September 2011 is now available. The planner is produced every three months by Lancashire PCT Leisure Coordinator Andrew Whitaker and will be available for download from our website. Learning Disability Awareness Week 2011 is nearly here! - 09/06/11
Learning Disability Awareness Week (LDAW) 2011 will run from Monday 20th June to Sunday 26th June. A range of events have been organised to raise awareness of Learning Disabilities including an extra special "favourites" fancy dress social evening. Each year LDAW focuses on a particular theme and organisers Mencap have chosen 'hate crime' as this years topic. Click here to read more

Social Evening to Continue - 22/03/11
We are delighted to announce that the Learning Disability Social Evening at The Kolor Bar, Old Bull will continue once funding runs out. However in order to make the evening self-sufficient we have raised the entry fee to £2, as from 30th March 2011. We will also be holding a weekly raffle with tickets on sale at the entrance to the Kolor Bar. Click here to read more

Our Commitment to Person Centred Thinking - 21/03/11
Central Lancs Person Centred Planning (PCP) Coordinator Max Neill visited the Spire office to host a three day training course on Person Centred Planning in September 2010. Six months later we continue our commitment to a Person Centred Approach with a range of Person Centred Reviews taking place. Some examples have been made available online. Click here to read more

Social Evening Success - 24/02/11
Next Wednesday will be our sixth weekly social evening at The Old Bull's Kolor Bar on Church Street. The evenings have been hugely successful with karaoke man Dave Wayne and singer Vicky Jay so far taking turns to provide entertainment between 7pm and 9pm every Wednesday. Click here to read more

New Performance Record available to download - 14/10/10
A Spire Quality Group met this week to discuss the way we monitor staff performance on a regular basis. The group, made up of Spire employees including Project Manager Karen Burrow, worked on a more effective record sheet to replace the old Monthly Report sheets. The new Performance Record is available to download from the Downloads section and is to be submitted at staff supervisions. Spire awarded 'Excellent' Preferred Provider Status - 03/09/10
Spire have recently been awarded Lancashire County Council Preferred Provider status for a further three years after being rated as providing an 'excellent' service.

We also hope to be complete our Investors in People assessment in September 2010.

Drama & Dance Group Launched - 12/07/10
We will be running a Dance & Drama Group for six weeks over the summer starting from Monday 19th July 2010. The classes run in the hall at Fulwood Methodist Church on Watling Street Road from 1pm to 4pm. Click here to read more.

Dawn completes Race For Life - 20/06/10
Dawn completed the 5km Race For Life at Moor Park raising just under £150 for Cancer Research UK.
